Our Global Procurement team plays a critical role in sourcing the direct and indirect materials, capex, and services that power our operations.

    Position Summary

    We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to join our Global Procurement team. This pivotal role will lead a team of capital Procurement Specialists, consultants, and other stakeholders in developing the capital equipment strategy associated with the Nippon/USS transaction. This position will collaborate with engineering, operations, legal and finance teams to source and manage procurement of high-value capital assets. The ideal candidate will bring experience in equipment procurement at U. S. Steel.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead a team of procurement professionals and consultants
    • Lead the end-to-end procurement process for capital equipment, including RFx development, supplier evaluation, negotiation, and contract execution.
    • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Project Management teams to define technical specifications and procurement timelines.
    • Support capital project planning by providing cost estimates, lead time analysis, and supplier capability assessments.
    • Develop and execute sourcing strategies that align with corporate objectives and deliver cost savings, quality improvements, and risk mitigation.
    • Manage supplier relationships to ensure performance, compliance, and continuous improvement.
    • Monitor market trends and emerging technologies to inform sourcing decisions and support innovation.
    • Ensure all procurement activities comply with corporate policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field.
    • Minimum 3-years' experience leading teams
    • Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.
    • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience supporting capital projects at U. S. Steel.
    • Familiarity with the Nippon/USS transaction or similar M&A-driven capital initiatives.
    • Knowledge of global sourcing and supplier qualification processes.
