    Lead CNC Maintenance Technician
    Location: Lafayette, IN
    Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire
    Schedule: 2nd Shift | 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM (hours may vary based on business needs)

    TempExperts is seeking an experienced Lead CNC Maintenance Technician for a 2nd shift opportunity in Lafayette, IN. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for leading a skilled maintenance team while overseeing the troubleshooting, repair, preventive, and predictive maintenance of CNC machines and industrial equipment. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise, leadership experience, and a commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
    Responsibilities
    • Lead a team of maintenance technicians by providing technical guidance, coaching, and training.
    • Oversee troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and documentation for CNC machines and industrial equipment.
    • Maintain and repair CNC machinery, robotic systems, multi-axis grinders, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, pumps, HVAC equipment, central coolant systems, and other production equipment.
    • Coordinate maintenance priorities, work assignments, and schedules using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
    • Ensure preventive maintenance activities are completed efficiently to maximize equipment reliability and uptime.
    • Serve as the technical resource for CNC controls and industrial electrical systems.
    • Diagnose complex equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
    • Promote and enforce all safety policies, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and proper PPE usage.
    • Conduct safety inspections and provide ongoing safety training for maintenance personnel.
    • Coordinate outside contractors and vendors performing maintenance or repair work.
    • Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate completed work with supervisors and internal stakeholders.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives that improve equipment performance, maintenance practices, and operational efficiency.
    • Perform additional maintenance and leadership duties as assigned.

    Qualifications
    • High School Diploma or GED required.
    • High School Diploma or GED required.
    • Minimum of eight (8) years of industrial maintenance, manufacturing maintenance, or facilities maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience leading maintenance teams.
    • Strong troubleshooting experience with CNC machinery and industrial equipment.
    • Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial electrical systems.
    • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
    • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
    • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
    • Valid driver's license.
    • U.S. work authorization required.
    • Ability to obtain required facility security credentials.
    • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.
    • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and alternate schedules as needed.
    • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
    • Ability to distinguish color-coded wiring while performing electrical work.
    • Ability to safely wear and work in required PPE, including steel-toe boots, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, hearing protection, and other required protective equipment.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree, technical certification, trade school education, or equivalent advanced technical training.
    • Ten (10)+ years of industrial maintenance experience with supervisory responsibilities.
    • Experience troubleshooting CNC control systems such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Fanuc, or similar platforms.
    • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint, for reporting and presentations.
    • Knowledge of root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen.
    • Experience managing maintenance contractors and capital improvement projects.
