At Saint-Gobain, precision matters. As a Lead CNC Grinding Machinist, you will serve as a technical leader responsible for producing high-performance engineered plastic components used in critical Aerospace and Automotive applications.

In this role, you will leverage your expertise in CNC grinding operations, setup, programming, troubleshooting, and process optimization to ensure exceptional quality and manufacturing performance. Beyond operating machines (Hone, ID/OD Grinders -CNC and Manual, and Surface Grinders) you will mentor fellow machinists, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and help develop the next generation of technical talent within our machining team.

What We're Looking For:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Lead CNC Machinist with experience in CNC Grinding operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, setting up Manual and CNC Grinding machines for production runs, ensuring all tooling and programs are correct, and verifying the first part to meet quality standards.

The Lead CNC Machinist is also responsible for supporting and training others, and working with their manager to ensure their team has the skills and tools needed to perform their duties successfully. This role is crucial in maintaining smooth production flow, minimizing downtime, ensuring high-quality output and maintaining a safe and productive work

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC grinding equipment to achieve quality, productivity, and safety objectives.
  • Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs and machining processes.
  • Verify tooling, machine setups, and first-piece inspections to ensure compliance with engineering specifications.
  • Interpret blueprints, GD&T requirements, work instructions, and manufacturing routers.
  • Monitor and maintain dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and process consistency.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to improve setup times, throughput, and product quality.
  • Train, mentor, and support machinists in machine operation, setup techniques, inspection methods, and best practices.
  • Support preventive maintenance activities and promote a safe, organized work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Is this job for you ?

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred (Candidates with significant experience may be considered in place of formal education)
  • Vocational or technical training/certification (Preferred)

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in performing set-ups, adjustments and offsets in CNC Machining for both Mills and Lathes (Required).
  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in programming CNC Machining for both Mills and Lathes (Required).
  • at least 1 year Experience leading or training others
  • Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, coupled with excellent organizational abilities.
  • Work Ethic: A dedicated professional with a strong work ethic, keen attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining excellent attendance. Flexibility to work overtime when necessary is also essential.
  • Commitment to Excellence: Operate in full compliance with all site policies and procedures, practice the Saint-Gobain principles of conduct & action, and strictly adhere to all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements.

For this position, we offer a competitive hourly pay range of $28.00 to $42.00. This rate reflects various factors, such as your location, internal equity, and your unique skills and experience.

But that's not all! In addition to your base pay, you will have the opportunity to earn periodic bonuses or an annual bonus, which can amount to up to 10% of your hourly rate based on both company performance and your individual contributions. When you consider the annualized total compensation, which includes both your hourly pay and potential bonuses, you could be looking at a rewarding total cash range of $61,100 to $91,700! At Saint-Gobain, your hard work and achievements are recognized and valued. While bonus amounts can vary based on performance, the potential for extra compensation is a testament to our commitment to your success.
