Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Avionics Integration Technician to join our aviation team. In this role, you will build, route, test, and troubleshoot complex electrical wiring harnesses for advanced air aviation systems. You will work closely with manufacturing engineers and design teams to perform root-cause analysis, execute modifications, and ensure the highest standards of aerospace safety and quality.
This is a critical backfill role perfect for a detail-oriented technician with a strong background in high-voltage wiring, electric aircraft, or advanced automotive systems.

What You’ll Do

• Fabrication & Assembly: Build and route wiring harnesses from detailed schematics and work instructions, including precision connector termination, crimping, and soldering.
• Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, modification documents, and test procedures.
• Testing & Troubleshooting: Conduct continuity checks, operational verifications, and data acquisition testing. Troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring issues on the shop floor using root-cause analysis.
• Tooling & Safety: Set up and maintain specialized tooling, jigs, and fixtures for harness routing while following strict aerospace safety protocols, Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) precautions, and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention.
• Collaboration & Documentation: Work closely with manufacturing engineers, design teams, and quality inspectors to optimize build efficiency. Maintain meticulous documentation for all testing, troubleshooting, and repair activities.

What You Need

• Experience: 5+ years of experience as an engineering technician in the aerospace and/or automotive industry.
• Education: Associate’s degree or certification in engineering technology (4+ years of additional experience can substitute for education).
• Technical Skills: Proven experience with wire harness fabrication, wire stripping, high-voltage wiring, batteries, and electric motor controllers.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of aircraft safety procedures, tool control, industry regulations, and FAA guidelines.
• Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent verbal/written communication, and the agility to thrive in a fast-paced, shifting environment.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 pounds, work comfortably in confined spaces, and handle tasks that may involve exposure to hazardous materials.

Bonus Qualifications

• Active A&P certification or equivalent aviation experience.
• Deep knowledge of IPC 610/620, NASA-STD-8739, or AC43.13-B standards.
• Familiarity with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software like SolidWorks, Siemens NX, or CATIA.
• Experience working with electric aircraft, New Product Development (NPD), configuration management, and FAA conformity.
