Lead Applications Engineer opening in Piedmont, SC for a well-established specialty manufacturer of custom engineered components. In this role you'll own the full lifecycle of custom projects from first contact through delivery. This position is ideal for a hands-on Engineer who enjoys dealing directly with clients, planning a project from procurement to production, and acting as Lead engineer and Project Owner on every custom order.

Requirements:
- 5+years in applications engineering, design engineering, or product engineering
- Working knowledge of relevant engineering principles (heat transfer, electrical, or mechanical — role will train on specifics)
- Proficiency reading and creating engineering drawings; AutoCAD or equivalent software
- Experience developing quotes and cost estimates for custom-engineered products
- Excellent communication skills, must be comfortable translating technical specs for non-technical customers
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
Role Duties:- Serve as the primary technical contact for inbound customer inquiries — lead each project from requirements gathering through design, procurement, and delivery
- Consult with customers to define performance requirements, constraints, and environmental conditions
- Perform engineering calculations and analysis; develop custom design configurations to meet customer specs
- Source materials and components; manage parts procurement for custom orders
- Develop accurate quotes and respond to RFQs with full technical documentation
- Coordinate with production and quality teams to ensure specs are feasible and clearly communicated
- Maintain customer records, quotes, and project status in CRM
