High-End Residential AV Integration | Nassau County, NY and the NYC Metro Area | Full-Time

Our client is an established high-end residential audio-video integration firm specializing in custom home theaters, whole-home automation and smart home systems. The Lead Audio-Visual Technician runs the installation work in the field and sets the standard for quality on every job. This is a hands-on position for a technician who works cleanly, keeps several projects moving at once, and knows how to conduct himself inside a client's home. The position is based out of Nassau County and works at client residences throughout the metro area.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Run day-to-day installation work on high-end residential AV projects from rough-in through final walkthrough.

    • Install and configure home theater, distributed audio and video, lighting control, motorized shade and automation equipment.

    • Produce top-level wire management in millwork, low-voltage cabinets and main equipment racks.

    • Configure installed equipment and apply firmware updates as needed.

    • Work from AV schematics, floorplans and scope-of-work documents, and flag field conditions that differ from the drawings.

    • Troubleshoot signal, connectivity and equipment problems during installation and on service calls.

    • Direct the work of mid-level and junior technicians on site and set the standard for install quality.

    • Move between several active projects in a day and keep each one on track.

    • Send daily written updates on progress and open issues to the project manager.

    Qualifications

    • 5+ years installing AV systems, with recent work in occupied high-end homes.

    • Strong grasp of signal flow and the ability to work from AV schematics, floorplans and scope-of-work documents.

    • Top-level wire management in millwork, low-voltage cabinets and main equipment racks.

    • Able to configure installed equipment and apply firmware updates.

    • Working knowledge of Savant, Crestron, Control4 or Lutron. Programming and commissioning experience is a plus, not a requirement.

    • Comfortable running several projects in a day without losing track of any of them.

    • PC fluent and consistent about sending daily written updates.

    • Understands how to work inside a client's home: drop cloths, booties, and respect for the property and the people in it.

    • Reliable and on time.

    • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

    • CTS or CEDIA certification is a plus.

    Benefits

    • Benefits eligibility begins after three months of satisfactory full-time employment.

    • Ten paid holidays and ten paid time off days accrued annually.

    • Company-sponsored medical, dental and vision plans at low weekly employee cost.

    • Long-term disability and life insurance paid entirely by the company.

    • 401k with a company match of 50% on the first 5% contributed, available pre-tax or Roth.

    • Pre-tax transit and parking program covering MTA, LIRR, Metro North and NJ Transit.

Compensation is competitive and set to the candidate's experience, and this is a full-time position on the company payroll.
