Job Description
- Lead day-to-day billing and collections operations for the firm.
- Manage, coach, and develop billing and collections team members.
- Oversee billing workflows, accounts receivable, outstanding balances, and collection activity.
- Partner with attorneys and firm leadership to resolve billing questions, disputes, and collection issues.
- Review invoices for accuracy and compliance with client billing requirements.
- Monitor billing and collections performance and provide reporting to leadership.
- Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and collection results.
- Support timely month-end billing and follow-up on outstanding receivables.
- Train staff on billing procedures, systems, client requirements, and best practices.
- Handle escalated billing and collections matters with professionalism and sound judgment.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of law firm billing experience.
- 1+ year of management or supervisory experience over billing and/or collections staff.
- Strong understanding of legal billing, collections, accounts receivable, and client billing requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team and manage competing priorities.
- Experience with legal billing or practice-management software preferred.
