JOB SUMMARY The laundry services aide monitors laundering machines to clean articles such as sheets, towels, rags, wiping cloths and by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Collects soiled linen from patient care areas. Sorts soiled linen, loads articles into washer and selects correct setting for chemicals per standard work. Starts machine that automatically washes and rinses articles. Lifts clean, wet articles from washer and places them successively into dryers per standard work dry times. Sorts dried articles according to type. Folds and places items in appropriate storage bins or shelves. Delivers clean linen to patient care areas on a scheduled basis. Sorts and counts articles to verify quantities on laundry lists. Treats contaminated articles as per policy Keeps accurate count on linen poundage. Stamp new linen as needed with company logo. Clean Urgent Care on the weekend or as needed. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education / Experience / License and Certifications High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED): or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Additional languages preferred. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Specific demands not listed: Possible exposure to blood and or body fluids / infectious disease / hazardous waste requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Exposure to odorous chemicals / specimens and Latex products. Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening is required.
