Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Lathe Machinist to set up, operate, and maintain manual and/or CNC lathes to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and experienced in machining tight-tolerance parts in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate manual and/or CNC lathe machines to produce precision parts
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions
- Select proper tooling, speeds, feeds, and cutting parameters
- Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools
- Maintain tight tolerances and ensure high-quality production standards
- Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot basic issues
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area
- Document production activities and maintain accurate records as required
- 2+ years of experience as a lathe machinist (manual and/or CNC preferred)
- Strong understanding of machining principles and shop math
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T basics
- Experience using precision measuring instruments
- Familiarity with different metals and machining materials
- Strong attention to detail and quality control mindset
- Ability to work independently on 1st shift with minimal supervision
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; technical training a plus
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Lift up to 40–50 lbs as needed
- Work in a manufacturing/shop environment with noise, coolant, and metal chips
