An established industry leader in the Chicago area is expanding its technical operations and seeking a skilled Laser & Controls Specialist to join a high-performing engineering team. In this role, you will serve as a core technical expert maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing advanced laser processing equipment and electrical control systems. You will work in a modern, well-supported environment locally while occasionally bringing your expertise to key regional sites.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial laser processing equipment and systems.
Inspect, diagnose, and maintain electrical control boards, wiring schematics, and automated control systems.
Partner with engineering and operations teams to optimize equipment performance and minimize downtime.
Execute scheduled preventative maintenance and technical calibration for precision systems.
Travel to southwestern regional facilities up to 4 times per year to assist with specialized technical projects, setups, or system reviews.
Qualifications
Strong hands-on experience working directly with industrial laser equipment.
Proven technical knowledge of electrical control boards, circuit troubleshooting, and industrial electrical systems.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control diagrams.
Willingness and ability to travel to the Southwest up to 4 times per year.
Solid communication skills and a team-first, problem-solving mindset.
