Laser Operator Basic Purpose of the Position:
To assist in the fabrication of sheet metal parts. To develop skill set required to operate a Laser keeping Safety, Quality, and Efficiency in mind. Major Areas of Responsibility: - Maintain a safe and clean work area.
- Able to conduct hands on training for new employees
- Able to give direction/direct Laser helper.
- Proficiently complete all production and quality documentation
- Perform quality checks to ensure materials, parts and workmanship are compliant with engineering requirements and production expectations using the following:
- Engineering Prints
- Tape Measurer
- Protractor
- Thickness Gauge Wheel
- Maintain acceptable production rates within the skill level, by meeting or exceeding efficiency goals.
- Lean and 5s Implemented in your areas.
- Must be a self-starter that can work without supervision.

- Able to understand and follow all MAP’s, PAP’s, CRN, B31.5, ASME, TMI’s, TPI’s, and SOP’s that pertain to the product
- Proficiently complete all documents pertaining to the process
- Safe operation of all overhead lifting cranes and jib booms
- Assist in other areas of the shop when required
- Able to be recertified as needed
- Mentor lessor experienced operators – leading by example
Knowledge, Skills, & Experience: - High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Basic shop math (i.e. add/subtract/divide/multiply, whole numbers and fractions)
- Read a tape measure to within 1/16”
- A general understanding of common hand tools is preferred.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Minimum 1-year Evapco Sheet Metal experience required.
- Able to read and understand all engineering prints related to the process.
- Able to trouble shoot and solve problems related to the process.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements: - Manufacturing environment
- Continuous standing, squatting, bending, pulling, and lifting throughout the workday
- Lift/Carry up to 50 lbs.
- Wear PPE when required – Manufacturing Areas
- Climb and work from ladders.
- Shift work, days or evenings, Monday through Friday and some Saturday’s.
- Willingness to work any shift including weekends for training purposes and or production requirements.
