Job Title: Laser Machine Operator
Location: Charlotte, NC
Schedule: 7AM TO 3:30PM

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Laser Machine Operator to operate laser cutting equipment for precision cutting and shaping of sheet metal components used in genset (generator set) enclosures. This position requires technical skill, a strong focus on safety and quality, and the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications. The ideal candidate will help ensure production targets are met with minimal waste and maximum efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate laser cutting machines based on job specifications

• Load/unload sheet metal materials and finished parts safely and efficiently

• Adjust machine settings to accommodate material type, thickness, and dimensions

• Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to ensure accuracy

• Monitor equipment performance and inspect output to ensure consistent quality

• Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting of laser machines

• Document production output and any issues or downtime accurately

• Communicate defects, material issues, or equipment concerns to supervisors

• Work collaboratively with the fabrication team to meet daily production goals

• Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• At least 1 year of experience operating laser cutting machines in a manufacturing environment

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings

• Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication processes

• Basic computer skills for data entry and machine interface operation

• Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail

• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods

• Strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience operating Trumpf, Amada, Bystronic, or similar laser systems

• Knowledge of CNC programming or nesting software

• Experience working with mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
