ND Landscape Services is looking for an experienced Landscape Construction Stonemason / Hardscape Installer to join our design/build construction team.

This position is ideal for someone with at least three years of professional hardscape or masonry installation experience who enjoys working outdoors, building high-quality projects and seeing the finished results of their craftsmanship.

Whether you have 3–5 years of hardscape installation experience and are ready to sharpen your masonry skills, or you are an accomplished stonemason capable of leading complex projects from layout through completion, we want to hear from you. Your responsibilities, compensation and opportunities for advancement will be based on your experience and abilities.

Our team builds high-end residential and commercial landscapes throughout the North Shore of Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire. Projects include natural stone walls, patios, walkways, steps, outdoor fireplaces, fire pits, outdoor kitchens, pool surrounds and other custom outdoor living features.

Compensation and Schedule

  • $30.00–$40.00+ per hour

  • Pay based on experience, craftsmanship, equipment-operating ability and leadership capabilities

  • Full-time, year-round employment

  • Overtime opportunities available

Highly experienced candidates who can independently lay out, organize and complete masonry projects—and lead other crew members—may qualify for compensation above the posted range.

What You’ll Build

As part of our construction team, you may work on projects including:

  • Natural stone, fieldstone, retaining, block and veneer walls

  • Patios, walkways, steps, stoops and entrances

  • Outdoor fireplaces, fire pits and kitchens

  • Pool patios, surrounds and coping

  • Custom stone and masonry features

  • Wall, stoop, fireplace and outdoor kitchen footings

  • Drainage, grading, excavation and site preparation

You will work with a wide variety of materials, including:

  • New England round fieldstone

  • Flat stone

  • Granite

  • Bluestone

  • Brick and concrete block

  • Manufactured wall and paving systems

  • Natural and manufactured stone veneer

  • Pool coping

What You’ll Do

Depending on your level of experience, your responsibilities may include:

  • Constructing walls, patios, walkways, steps and custom masonry features

  • Reading construction drawings, blueprints and work orders

  • Performing layout, measurements, elevations and material calculations

  • Establishing and maintaining proper grades, pitches and elevations

  • Installing and preparing masonry footings

  • Mixing and applying mortar using proper masonry techniques

  • Cutting, shaping and fitting natural and manufactured stone

  • Operating skid steers, excavators, compactors and other construction equipment

  • Assisting with excavation, drainage, grading and site preparation

  • Organizing materials and maintaining an efficient work area

  • Maintaining clean, safe and professional jobsites

  • Working closely with project managers, foremen and other construction team members

  • Helping less-experienced team members improve their skills when appropriate

  • Participating in snow and ice operations during the winter season

Experience Levels We’re Considering

We are open to candidates at different stages of their hardscape and masonry careers.

Experienced Hardscape Installer

You have approximately 3–5 years of professional installation experience and can confidently assist with or complete patios, walkways, walls, steps, drainage and site preparation. You understand proper base preparation, grading, compaction and installation practices and are interested in continuing to develop your natural stone and masonry skills.

Experienced Stonemason

You have 5 or more years of professional masonry or hardscape experience and can independently complete natural stone walls, mortared masonry, steps, patios and other custom features. You are comfortable reading plans, completing layout and producing consistent, high-quality finished work.

Lead Mason or Foreman-Level Candidate

You can manage a project from layout through completion, organize labor and materials, operate equipment and guide other crew members. You take ownership of productivity, craftsmanship, jobsite organization and the final result.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least three years of professional hardscape, masonry or landscape construction installation experience

  • Experience installing patios, walkways, walls, steps or similar outdoor features

  • Knowledge of proper excavation, base preparation, grading and compaction

  • Ability to maintain accurate grades, elevations, pitches and measurements

  • Ability to safely use masonry and landscape construction tools

  • Strong attention to detail and pride in quality craftsmanship

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a construction team

  • Dependable attendance and professional conduct

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to our Georgetown, Massachusetts location

  • Ability to perform the essential physical duties of outdoor construction work, with or without reasonable accommodation

Additional Experience We Value

  • Natural stone and mortared masonry experience

  • Experience working with New England round fieldstone

  • Outdoor fireplace, kitchen and custom stonework experience

  • Experience reading construction plans and completing field layout

  • Skid steer and excavator operating experience

  • Crew leadership or jobsite management experience

  • Commercial driver’s license or hoisting license

  • Snowplowing or snow and ice management experience
