General Information

Work Location: Radio Division - 1801 5th Street West, Bradenton, Florida 34205

Work Hours: 7:00am - 4:00pm (Salary)

Expected Starting Salary Range: $58,141.44 - $75,583.87

Professional and tactical information technology work that requires an incumbent to produce intermediate analytical and technical work products. The incumbent identifies and resolves minor work problems and projects of a nature that lower-level employees are unable to solve or overcome, including analysis, design, development, configuration, testing, training, documentation, and production support. Work requires creative and original thinking, and is performed under direct supervision of senior professionals with considerable latitude for individual and team initiative, judgment, and discretion. The incumbent works with customers to determine hardware, software, and system functional requirements through business analysis, and facilitates strategic planning initiatives to achieve business value through partnership. The incumbent reports to a senior manager, or designee.

Working Conditions:

Indoor/office situation; high noise environment while performing certain responsibilities. Lifting equipment up to 50 lbs. alone; up to 75 lbs. with assistance. Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods such as callouts, maintenance windows, special assignments, emergencies, and disaster situations.

Land Mobile Radio (LMR)

  • The LMR Specialist has a wide range of responsibilities related to the maintenance, installation, and support of radio communication systems including but not limited to:
  • Testing: Conduct tests on radios to verify performance and compliance with specifications. Use diagnostic tools to assess power and VSWR, signal strength, frequency accuracy, and other technical parameters.
  • System Configuration: Configure radio systems according to technical specifications and operational requirements. This includes programming radios with the correct code plugs and configurations.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on radio communication equipment. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues to ensure equipment operates efficiently.
  • Equipment Installation: Install LMR systems, including radios, antennas, and associated hardware. Ensure that all equipment is mounted securely and connected properly.
  • Post-Installation Support: Offer support and troubleshooting assistance after installation to address any issues that clients may encounter. This may involve follow-up visits or remote assistance.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of equipment installations, repairs, and maintenance activities. Update technical documentation, including schematics and service logs, as required.
  • Customer Support: Provide technical support to our end-users. Respond to service requests, answer questions, and offer solutions to issues related to radio communication systems. Availability to be on call and provide Hurricane support during activations.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with senior technicians, engineers, other team members and contractors to complete projects and resolve complex issues. Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of best practices.

Manages customer expectations through Business Relationship Management.

Takes ownership for troubleshooting minor technical problems and projects and provides corrective actions with a sense of urgency.

Occasionally prepares and delivers verbal and written presentations at the section-level to peers and customers at various levels of the organization.

Supports and participates in self-developmental planning.

Trains and mentors colleagues and lower-level employees.

Performs other related work as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications

Intermediate-level proficiency in two or more of the following fields: Database Administration, Network Services, Desktop Services, Server Administration, Application Design, Application Development, Solution Life-Cycle Management, Enterprise Architecture, Quality Assurance, Incident/Problem Management, Change Management, Configuration Management, Security Management, Financial Management, Service Management, Customer Service Center, Production Application Services, Storage Area Network, Middleware Services, Project/Portfolio Management, Document Management, Wireless Communications, Telecommunications, Radio, Audio Visual, Geographical Information Services, Internet/Web Services, Business Intelligence, and Organizational Development.

Subject matter experience must be current with particular emphasis on leadership, innovation, and customer service accomplishments.

High School Diploma or equivalent with minimum of (5) five years of relevant information technology experience; or (3) three years of relevant information technology experience and an associate degree in information technology, computer science, computer technology, or related field; or (1) one year of relevant information technology experience and a bachelors degree in information technology, computer science, computer technology, or related field.

A comparable combination of education, training, and work experience in information technology may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Valid drivers license required with valid Florida driver license required within 30 days of hire.
