The Lactation Consultant guidance to patients, families, staff, and community in delivering education, information and training that responds to individualized needs in accordance with the current policies and procedures.
What We're Looking For:
- Education: High School Diploma, required. 4 Year/ Bachelor's Degree, preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in mother/baby care or breast feeding education, required.
- Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current IBCLC certification, required. Current RN licensure in appropriate state, preferred.
- Additional Skills: Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Excellent customer service skills.

In this role, you will serve as a trusted expert, educator, and advocate, supporting patients, families, and care teams through every stage of the care journey. You will blend clinical expertise with compassion, ensuring exceptional outcomes and meaningful patient experiences.
Health and Wellness Leadership
- Design, implement, and evaluate education programs tailored to the unique needs of patients and families
- Serve as a subject matter expert in patient education, promoting health and wellness both within the organization and throughout the community
- Participate in community outreach and initiatives that support a culture of prevention, education, and well-being
Care Coordination & Clinical Collaboration
- Partner with multidisciplinary teams to support comprehensive care planning
- Provide consultation in complex lactation and patient education scenarios
- Connect patients and families with internal and community-based resources
- Support the monitoring and improvement of patient and neonatal outcomes
Patient Education Excellence
- Collaborate with nursing staff to develop and execute individualized teaching plans
- Deliver clear, compassionate education to patients, families, and the broader community
- Use teach-back methods to ensure understanding and document learning outcomes
- Continuously evaluate and improve the effectiveness of educational approaches
Leadership & Team Support
- Model positive leadership behaviors and serve as a resource for staff navigating complex patient education needs
- Provide guidance and consultation on care management and educational strategies
- Identify opportunities to enhance education programs and overall patient experience
- Support team members in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care
Human Experience & Patient-Centered Care
- Build trust and confidence through strong communication, empathy, and clinical expertise
- Create meaningful patient connections through purposeful rounding and transparent communication

Lactation & Acute Care Services
- Provide comprehensive lactation support across inpatient, outpatient, and critical care settings
- Deliver care through a variety of channels including in-person visits, virtual consultations, support groups, prenatal classes, and phone support
- Travel between campus locations and facilities as needed to meet patient and organizational needs
