Overview The Laborer / Pipe Layer primary function involves manual labor working outside with your hands on a pipe crew for the installation of many different types of pipe. Must work productively and safely, consistently meet the production goals as set by the Foreman, Superintendent or Project Manager. Responsibilities
Work safely to prevent on the job accidents and injuries, wear all site specific mandated protective equipment including but not limited to hard hat, hearing protection, safety-toe boots and safety glasses
Manually maneuver pipe
Lift a minimum weight of 100 pounds
Shovel rock, dirt, or sand
Swing a sledgehammer
Lay pipe
Figure grades
Climb in and out of excavations by ladder or earthen ramp
Manually carry materials including bags of concrete, lumber, plastic pipe, grates, castings, etc
Responsible for the care and storage of all tools they use and clean up.
Ability to lift objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions
Ability to communicate orally and in writing, understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions
Must have transportation to and from various jobsite
Ability to operate equipment and tools properly and safely
Must meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
Exercises their right, responsibility and obligation to stop work when knowledgeable of job hazards
Work outside in the elements
Able to respond quickly and willing to assist with any job duties asked by Foreman
Be able to work well in a group setting as well as individually at times
Self-sufficient
Able to follow instruction
Adhere to all traffic laws, ordinances, and rules involved in heavy equipment operation
Ability to read, understands, follow, and enforce safety procedures and prepare written reports and forms
Work independently in the absence of supervision
Adhere to OSHA safety requirements. Wear mandated protective equipment and clothing
Complete and pass all training requirements and attend all safety training programs as required
Exercise the right, responsibility, and obligation to stop work when knowledgeable of job hazards
Ability to work safely in a wide variety of climatic conditions and job site environments commonly found at Moretrench job sites
Complete and pass annual phosphate training and attend all safety training programs related to job
