CITY OF MONROE ADMINISTRATION Human Resources JOB TITLE: LABORER JOB CLASS NUMBER: 7101 REVISION DATE: 7.18.2023 DEPARTMENT PUBLIC WORKS DEFINITION/DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS OF JOB: Under supervision of a Crew Supervisor, is responsible for work of routine difficulty in performing manual labor; performs related work as required. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Performs manual tasks involving the parks grounds maintenance and cleaning of cemetery grounds, flower beds, ditches, and other properties
• Picks up litter, mows grass, uses shovels, rakes, pitchforks, pruners, plant clippers, weed eaters, backpack blowers, pole saws, and edgers; may also water trees and flower beds
• May work in other parks throughout the city and help assist other departments if needed.
• May drive a pickup truck and other vehicles that dont require CDLs; light vehicles such as trucks and pull trailers behind the trucks
• May plant trees, flowers, and different plants
• Completes any tasks as instructed by supervisors
• Subject to after hour Ca/I-Outs due to emergencies
• Works overtime as needed in certain circumstances TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Experience with operations of small equipment KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Ability to follow oral instructions and perform heavy manual labor LICENSE AND CERTIFICATES: Must have a v alid LA drivers license.
