    Description

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following. Other job-related duties may be assigned.

    • Unloading, handling and distributing of all materials, fixtures, furnishings and appliances.
    • Supports carpenters and other trades with material and equipment distribution.
    • Cleaning and clearing of all debris in a construction area. Clean-up includes sweeping, washing down and wiping of construction facility, equipment and furnishings.
    • Mopping, washing, waxing, polishing and dusting of all floors.
    • Erection, planking and removal of all scaffolds.
    • Digging of trenches, piers, foundations and holes.
    • Erection, dismantling and/or reinstallation of all fences.
    • Traffic control at job sites.
    • All work of drilling, jack hammering and demolition.
    • Clearing, excavating, filling, backfilling, grading and landscaping of all job sites.
    • The demolition or dismantling of all buildings and structures.
    • Operation of hand, pneumatic, electric or air-driven tools or equipment.
    • Stripping and cleaning forms and other equipment.
    • Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.
    • Levels earth and stone base materials to fine grade specifications.
    • Mix small batch concrete when required.
    • Mops, brushes, or spreads paints or bituminous compounds over surfaces for protection.
    • Sprays materials such as water, sand, steam, vinyl, paint, or stucco through hose to clean, coat, or seal surfaces.
    • Applies caulking compounds by hand or with caulking gun to seal crevices.
    • Grinds, sands, or polishes surfaces such as concrete, marble, terrazzo, or wood flooring.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    High School graduate or GED equivalent. Completion of Laborer Apprenticeship or equal experience

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
