Job Description:
Field & Greenhouse Research Support
Conducts natural resources conservation research across field and greenhouse settings. Responsibilities
include plant and animal sampling, preparation of research plots, installation of treatments, routine plot
maintenance, and systematic data collection. Prepares and analyzes soil and plant samples to assess
macro- and micronutrient composition. Operates a state vehicle as required, with travel to the Milton
campus and other research sites as necessary.
Instructional & Laboratory Support
Prepares materials for laboratory sections of wildlife ecology and conservation courses and provides
instructional support during lab sessions as needed. Maintains accurate records and manages inventory of
supplies and chemicals to ensure all teaching activities are fully supported and compliant with safety
standards.
Data Management & Research Communication
Utilizes software applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SAS, ArcView, and ArcInfo to organize,
analyze, and present research data. Assists in drafting, editing, and preparing research reports and
publications. May contribute to outreach efforts by presenting research findings to the public or
collaborating partners.
Operations, Coordination & Personnel Support
Maintains detailed laboratory and field records, including inventory tracking for supplies and chemicals used
in research activities. Supports the planning and coordination of research assignments for graduate
students and part-time staff. Participates in the recruitment process by assisting with interviews for part-time
employee positions.
Perform other job duties as assigned.
Valid DL required.
Compensation
Starting at $22.03 per hour; compensation is negotiable and commensurate with education and experience
Required Qualifications:
Associate's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of related experience or a high school diploma and six years of related experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Valid FL driver''''s license.
Preferred:
A bachelor degree or higher in natural resource conservation, wildlife, range science or any other biological
sciences is preferred.
Knowledge of plant and animal sampling techniques, and computer software for data acquisition, analysis
and presentation desired. Experience with identification of flora of the southeast or midwest or identification
of southeastern birds preferred.
Computer software skills should include word processing, spreadsheet creation and management.
