    Laboratory Technician

    Work Fewer Days!

    3 Days one week / 4 days the next (12-hr shifts) with every other weekend off.

     

    Purpose:
    The Lab Technician will be responsible for providing technical support for the production departments.

    Primary Duties:

    • Complete mechanical and dimensional testing of metal samples following work instructions and ASTM specifications. 
    • Utilize router, shear, and other small power tools to shape samples to required dimensions.
    • Prepare and analyze solid metal samples for chemical composition.
    • Enter data accurately and completely to record test results and communicate those results to required parties. Maintain associated databases as needed.
    • Perform preventative maintenance and calibration to keep test equipment in good working order.
    • Maintain retention sample inventory for required intervals.
    • Support Quality and R&D departments with special testing protocols.
    • Any other duties as assigned.

    Education/Skills Requirements:

    • Associate Degree in Science-related field, and/or 3 years of laboratory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Manufacturing or metals experience preferred.
    • General understanding of PCs and related software experience.
    • Sound communication, organizational and analytical skills with the ability to plan work.
    • Proper use of testing equipment.
    • Familiarity with ASTM methods.
