Duration: 3+ Months contract with possible extensionAbout the Role The Laboratory Technician supports the development, testing, and qualification of process technologies for oil, gas, & separation applications. Working with engineers, scientists, and other laboratory personnel, the technician conducts quality, repeatable, and verifiable tests on new and existing technologies.
The role includes preparing equipment and test samples, executing approved test procedures, recording and managing experimental data, and supporting the preparation of technical reports and presentations. The Laboratory Technician also helps maintain a safe, clean, and efficient laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities- Support the development, testing, validation, and qualification of new and existing process technologies through laboratory experimentation.
- Prepare test equipment, process fluids, chemical solutions, consumables, and samples according to approved procedures.
- Set up, operate, monitor, and shut down laboratory test equipment and experimental systems safely and reliably.
- Conduct tests to verify technology, product, and process designs, including gas and liquid process-related samples.
- Accurately record operating conditions, observations, measurements, and test results.
- Prepare test worksheets, laboratory records, data summaries, computer-generated reports, and technical presentation inputs.
- Assist engineers and scientists with non-routine tests, troubleshooting investigations, and technology qualification activities.
- Communicate test progress, equipment issues, unusual observations, and preliminary findings to the responsible engineer or supervisor.
- Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate laboratory equipment, and verify equipment readiness before testing.
- Maintain clean, orderly, and safe laboratory work areas, inventories, supplies, chemicals, spare parts, and consumables.
- Handle, label, store, and dispose of chemicals, fluids, solids, and laboratory waste using approved methods.
- Follow applicable risk assessments, standard operating procedures, work instructions, company policies, and Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment requirements.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment, complete required training, participate in safety and operational reviews, and promptly report hClientards, spills, equipment failures, and unsafe conditions.
Minimum Qualifications- A high school diploma or GED with two years of experience working in a lab environment, OR, an Associate’s Degree in a related field of study (e.g. lab technician programs, college coursework in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics)
- Minimum 2 years of work experience in a lab, plant, or similar environment (Analytical laboratory environments, Industrial laboratory settings, Chemical or petclientmical testing environments, Environmental testing laboratories, Similar hands-on testing environments)
