    Shift: Evenings, approx 2pm-11:30pm with some flexibility

    Status: Full time, 40 hours a week

    Location: Trinity Health Oakland

    This position is responsible for coordinating the efficient operation of specimen reception and the successful provision of phlebotomy services in the inpatient environment and the onsite outpatient draw stations. The coordinator will

    participate in quality monitoring, ensuring the work flow processes are efficient and designed in a manner that is consistent with excellent customer service. Assists the phlebotomy supervisor in ensuring that the phlebotomist are

    properly trained and in determining their competency. The position is responsible for coordinating phlebotomy orientation of new nursing personal.

    Minimum Education, Licensure / Certification and Experience Required.

    Education

    • Associates degree in medical technology or related health care degree preferred or equivalent work experience.

    Licensure / Certification

    • Certification in phlebotomy through the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians or American Society
    • of Certified Phlebotomists required or within 12 months from date of hire.
    • Current Heart Saver (HS) certification.

    Special Skill / Aptitudes

    • Organization and time management skills necessary to complete responsibilities of role.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
    • Extensive ability to work with a team so as to solicit cooperation and compliance.
    • Ability to train and mentor in an encouraging environment.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Good understanding of laboratory operations, terminology, methodology, and logistics in a clinical laboratory
    • Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary in order to deal effectively with various levels of hospital personnel, outside customers and community groups.

    Minimum Education, Licensure / Certification and Experience Required.

    • Two years experience in a hospital laboratory related experience or direct patient care work involving phlebotomy in a health care setting.
    • Previous experience in lab outpatient area preferred.
