• Position Type: Contract (Travel/Allied)
• Contract Duration: 3 months
• Pay Rate: $53.60 $57.60 / Hour (USD)
• Shift / Schedule: Night Shift 4x10 Hours, 9:30 PM 7:30 AM (start time 9:30 PM, may flex to 8:00 PM as needed); Rotating weekends and holidays
• Travel Requirements: Local radius is 50 miles
• Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Job Summary

This is a night-shift Blood Bank traveler position at an Acute Care, MAGNET-designated hospital with 426 staffed beds in Orange, CA. The clinician will work fully independent at night and must be able to work alone with confidence. The facility operates at Trauma Level I, and the role involves high-volume type/screen and crossmatch work, with 30 50 samples per day anticipated.

Key Responsibilities

• Work fully independently on the night shift in the Blood Bank laboratory without direct supervision
• Perform high-volume type/screen and crossmatch procedures (30 50 samples per day)
• Operate Blood Bank instrumentation including software platforms (Wellsky, Immucor, or equivalent Blood Bank software)
• Adhere to rotating weekend and holiday scheduling requirements; weekends may exceed every other to accommodate unit needs
• Chart and document using Epic electronic health record system
• Provide daytime Pacific Time interview availability at time of submission
• If assignment lists multiple lab specialties, provide percentage breakdown of time spent in each specialty

Required Skills

• Minimum 2 years of Blood Bank experience Hard Stop; must be recent/current (within 2 years)
• Seasoned traveler in Blood Bank required first-timers not accepted
• Epic electronic health record experience Hard Stop
• Experience with Blood Bank software (any platform acceptable) Hard Stop
• Experience in a large hospital (300 beds)
• Trauma Level I experience required
• Ability to work fully independently on night shift without supervision
• Rotating weekends and holidays availability required
• Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered
• RTO must be included at time of submission

Preferred Skills

• Wellsky instrumentation experience preferred
• Immucor instrumentation experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred

Education Requirements

• ASCP-BB (American Society for Clinical Pathology Blood Bank) certification required
• Clin Immunohem Sci (Clinical Immunohematology Scientist) certification preferred

• Clinician works fully independent at night must be confident working alone

• Scrub color: Royal Blue (RNs); L&D/OR scrubs provided

• 2 years of Blood Bank experience is a hard stop candidates without this will not be screened
• Epic experience is a hard stop candidates without this will not be screened
• Blood Bank software experience is a hard stop any software platform acceptable, but experience must exist
• Must be a seasoned Blood Bank traveler first-timers are not accepted
• Must have experience in a large hospital (300 beds)
• Must have Trauma Level I experience
• Guaranteed Hours: Facility is able to call off once per two-week pay period
• Local Rate: Local candidates within 50-mile radius should contact the Account Manager for local rate information
• COVID-19 vaccination: Not required
• RTO restrictions must be submitted at the time of submission
