Laboratory Assistant

Employment Screening Requirements: As part of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System’s commitment to keeping people safe, all individuals providing care to vulnerable populations are required to undergo background screening through The Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse. Required Qualifications: - Require Phlebotomy certification with a national agency recognized by ACHA and must be current and active, or six (6) months experience working in a blood bank laboratory.

Job Summary:

The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for routine blood product preparation, examination, issuing, and returning of blood products.

Required Qualifications:

- Require Phlebotomy certification with a national agency recognized by ACHA and must be current and active, or six (6) months experience working in a blood bank laboratory.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Prefer demonstrated ability to interact successfully with staff and other healthcare providers and excellent communication skills.
- Prefer demonstrated knowledge of all relevant computer skills as needed for patient ID system and specimen processing functions.
- Prefer demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to function in Specimen Processing and Receiving area of the Blood Bank Laboratory.
- Prefer the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Mandatory Education:

Work Days/Shift/Start Time:

4- 10hr shifts, every third weekend and rotating holidays
