Job Summary and Qualifications

The Laboratory Assistant provides clerical and phlebotomy services for the Laboratory in a timely, efficient and courteous manner. The Laboratory Assistant demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Answer telephone efficiently and courteously, and transfer calls effectively.
  • Is familiar with medical terminology, basic computer skills and specimen requirements.
  • Orders tests in Meditech if necessary
  • Receive specimens into computer and process them for testing.
  • Will comply with universal precautions and adhere to safety standards and practices.
  • Phlebotomy and urine collection.
  • Cheerfully greets customers as soon as they arrive.
  • Miscellaneous tasks such as receiving/stocking supplies or distributing mail/faxes.
  • Print and distribute reports as required.
  • Collect urine for drug screens and accurately process paperwork.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the Power of One Gulf Coast Division Standards of Behavior.
  • May be assigned to other tasks and/or required to vary schedule to meet the needs of the Laboratory & patients.


What qualifications you will need:

  • No Travel Required
  • 2 years experience Required Years of Experience
  • Medical terminology is desirable
