A full-time Clinical Nurse Coordinator opportunity is available within the Labor & Delivery unit at a 150+ bed accredited regional medical center in Dickson, Tennessee. This hospital is also recognized as an Accredited Chest Pain Center and a Primary Stroke Center, offering a supportive environment with a strong focus on maternal-child health and emergency services.
The Clinical Nurse Coordinator works closely with the management team to oversee, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care within the Labor & Delivery unit during the night shift. This role functions in a blended Charge Nurse and Assistant Nurse Manager capacity, serving as the primary on-shift resource for staffing, clinical support, and operational decision-making. The position plays a key role in managing patient flow, including admissions and discharges, while ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality care delivery. The CNC also collaborates with leadership and interdisciplinary teams to improve outcomes, support staff development, and maintain a positive and cohesive work environment. In addition, this role requires hands-on clinical capability, including assisting with deliveries and scrubbing in for operative procedures when needed.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and oversee nursing care delivery within the Labor & Delivery unit during night shift operations.
Serve as on-shift clinical and operational resource for staff and providers.
Manage staffing assignments, scheduling adjustments, and workload distribution based on patient needs.
Monitor patient flow including admissions, discharges, and intra-unit transfers.
Support and participate in direct patient care, including labor support and surgical assistance as needed.
Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, and leadership to ensure safe and effective care delivery.
Evaluate care quality and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Provide mentorship and guidance to nursing staff.
Ensure compliance with clinical standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
Associate Degree in Nursing required.
Active Registered Nurse license required.
Minimum of 2 years of Labor & Delivery RN experience required.
Any prior leadership experience in Women’s Services, L&D, NICU, or Mother-Baby units required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 1 year of hire.
Strong clinical judgment, leadership ability, and communication skills.
Ability to function effectively in a high-acuity obstetric environment.
