Job Title: Lab Technician

Job Description

As a Lab Technician, you will be responsible for sample preparation and supporting chemists in a fast-paced environment. You will be trained on one to multiple methods and may move between teams frequently. The role requires strict adherence to quality systems and regulatory requirements to ensure accurate and timely analysis of samples.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare samples for analysis and support chemists in their tasks.
  • Pull samples and be trained on one to multiple methods.
  • Follow Quality System documents, including the Quality Manual, SOPs, and Methods.
  • Adhere to quality measures set by ISO/IEC, government regulations, and company standards.
  • Comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in at least one core method with minimal supervision.
  • Operate basic lab equipment within the department.
  • Set up and weigh batches of samples.
  • Perform timely and accurate sample analysis using appropriate methods and techniques.
  • Maintain neat and accurate records of work performed.
  • Identify the need for rechecks from samples assayed.
  • Maintain clean glassware and prepare solutions for daily testing.
  • Report and propose solutions for analytical difficulties to supervisors.
  • Ensure proprietary methodologies are not disclosed without approval.
  • Respond to queries from clients, staff, and co-workers promptly.
  • Stay current on technical and industry advancements.
  • Recommend more efficient laboratory equipment or processes.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers both orally and in writing.
  • Promote the company image through ethical business practices.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in a production environment.
  • Strong decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Experience in laboratory, chemistry, and sample preparation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in life sciences with courses in chemistry, biochemistry, or organic chemistry.
  • Research or additional laboratory experience.
  • Part-time or full-time professional experience.
  • Proven ability to follow SOPs.
  • Experience in analytical chemistry, LC, GC, pipetting, titrations, and microbiology.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Independent problem-solving skills and action-oriented approach.
  • Respectfulness towards peers and a positive attitude.

Work Environment

You will work in the Pesticides or Vet Drugs department from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM during a 4-6 week training period. Post training, you will work independently in about 3-4 months with flexible hours as early as 6 AM or as late as 9 PM. The work environment includes two large teams, with 20+ members in pesticides and 15+ in vet drugs, and may include sample preparation in Vet Drugs. The role requires meeting turnaround times (TAT) and maintaining accurate documentation

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of NEW ORLEANS, LA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
