Position: Lab Technician I
Position Summary
*** San Diego is seeking an outstanding Lab Technician I to join our Laboratory Operations team.
This role provides broad support to research personnel by maintaining lab facilities, conducting equipment
maintenance, managing biohazard and chemical waste collection, and replenishing supplies. Additionally,
you will support the Lab Managers in troubleshooting equipment and drafting laboratory maintenance
procedures.
Responsibilities
Log maintenance activities and laboratory data accurately using specialized software.
Conduct daily operational maintenance for incubators, water baths, centrifuges, and cold storage.
Triage help desk tickets and troubleshoot immediate lab issues (e.g., leaks or malfunctions).
Perform daily inspections to ensure a safe environment and communicate violations to EHS.
Monitor the collection and safe disposal of hazardous biological and chemical materials.
Process lab glassware (washing, autoclaving) and replenish PPE and lab supplies.
Manage stock inventory, including ordering, collection, and distribution tasks.
Requirements, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Associate/Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline with 1+ years of lab experience, or a High School
diploma/GED with 3+ years of experience.
Proven ability to perform tasks accurately, precisely, and within expected timeframes.
Working knowledge of scientific laboratory equipment and EH&S regulations.
Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and willing to accept evolving responsibilities.
Physically capable of lifting twenty-five (25) pounds.
DOT and Hazardous Waste Management certifications are a plus.
