Lab Technician

Crafco, Inc. has an opening for a Lab Technician at our Sealant Plant in DeKalb, IL.

Come join our team! This full time position, Monday - Friday, is based in the materials lab at our Sealant Plant in DeKalb, IL. The qualified applicant will perform raw materials and finished product quality assurance, experimental mixture blending and testing, and other lab testing and evaluation procedures with company products as assigned.

Specific Duties:

• Perform test and evaluation on raw materials and finished products in accordance with the Quality Control Manual, assuring safety, quality, accuracy and consistency.
• Prepare and test experimental mixtures in the lab for evaluations of raw materials and formulations according to instructions provided.
• Maintain lab equipment and work areas in a clean, orderly, and safe manner.
• Assist with maintaining supplies of raw materials for experimental use.
• Classify tested finished products according to appropriate warehouse criteria.
• Proficient performance of testing functions.
• Accurately sample and test sealants for agency approval.
• Record accurate data when performing duties.
• Maintain appropriate records on file.
• Report results in timely manner.
• Develop and maintain cooperative, professional relationships with other employees.
• Adhere to company Code of Conduct, policies, and safety requirements.
• Perform assigned duties, and/or other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Must possess a High School diploma or GED.
• A minimum of 1-3 years lab experience.
• Working knowledge and familiarity with raw materials and finished product specifications and properties.
• Must have sound judgement to plan, perform and make decisions on sequence of set ups and operation within standard methods and procedures.
• Ability to use basic math involving decimals and fractions.
• Ability to read and understand formulas, charts, and specifications.
• Ability to perform physical requirement of job such as standing for long periods of time, occasionally lifting or moving objects up to 50 lbs.
