    Description

    Position Summary: Alamance Community College (ACC) is seeking a full time Lab Manager and Chemical Compliance Officer.

    Example of Duties

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Prepare laboratories for instructional classes, demonstrations and student activities in various locations across multiple disciplines.

    Set up, calibrate, operate, troubleshoot and maintain lab equipment and instruments

    Order, receive, inventory and organize lab supplies, chemicals, equipment and consumables

    Monitor inventory levels and maintain accurate inventory records

    Conduct yearly inspections and bi-annual cleaning of lab facilities and equipment to identify maintenance or safety concerns

    Maintain records that are related to equipment maintenance, repairs, and inventory

    Act as the Chemical Compliance Officer for the entire campus.

    Develop and maintain Safety Data Sheets and chemical inventories for the campus.

    Coordinate proper storage, handling and disposal of hazardous materials and lab waste.

    Communicate regularly with the Dean, Department Heads, Faculty and Facilities about lab equipment needs, lab supplies, chemical storage and safety concerns.

    Stay current on lab technologies, safety standards and best practices through professional development.

    Typical Qualifications

    Minimum of an Associates degree from a regionally accredited institution in Biology, Biotechnology or other life science.

    Hands-on laboratory experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, biomanufacturing or something closely related.

    Familiarity with cGMP and GLP.

    Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external constituents.

    Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    Demonstrated experience with current analytical techniques and instrumentation.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Academic, research and/or industry experience in Biotechnology or a related scientific or FDA fi eld.

    Bachelor's Degree in a science discipline preferred.

    Lab experience in a Community College setting is preferred.

    Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of MS Office; familiarity with Google Docs/Drive and other cloud based applications.
