    Description

Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of LEO satellites that will provide broadband connectivity to underserved communities around the world. We are developing a satellite-to-mobile network to deliver ubiquitous cellular connectivity through the Kuiper constellation, partnering with mobile network operators globally to provide direct-to-cell service and extend coverage to billions of existing cellular devices.

    About the Role

As a Lab Support Engineer in the Phased Array Delivery Team you lead the process of building, testing, and deploying phased array antenna panels to customers within the development organization. You will lead a small team that assembles array sectors into full array panels, test the panels for proper operation, and then distributes them to customers. You will also coordinate storage and processing of the required components. You will communicate with various internal teams to ensure a smooth operation. This role drives technical infrastructure, laboratory readiness, operational processes, and technical resources across multiple teams to enable efficient execution of hardware integration and verification activities. Excellent customer service skills are required.

    Export Control Requirement

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Lead a team of technicians in the assembly of phased array antenna panels (create and maintain SOPs for assembly and testing of the panels)
    • Ensure phased array panel quality and collaborate with engineers on continuous improvements
    • Ensure lab and test infrastructure readiness
    • Improve test efficiency (in collaboration with engineering teams)
    • Work with partner teams to develop and maintain scalable processes and resolve test failures
    • Improve operational efficiency of the team
    • Work with customers to identify and eliminate any pain points
    • Domestic travel as needed to work with partner teams (approx. 5% per year)

    About the team

The Amazon LEO phased antenna array delivery team provides the organization with the phased array antennas needed for development. The team plays a critical role in enabling other teams to evaluate and improve the performance of their systems.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
