This role performs routine laboratory functions with precision and accuracy to assist professional laboratory staff and ensure efficient specimen processing and workflow. Prepare specimens for testing, including building worklists, aliquoting samples, and labeling.

Shift: Tue to Sat, 08:00 PM – 04:30 AM EST.
 
Pay Rate: $17.20 – $22.00/ hr. on W2 – All inclusive.
 
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician (Pre-Analytical) to support daily laboratory operations. This role performs routine laboratory functions with precision and accuracy to assist professional laboratory staff and ensure efficient specimen processing and workflow.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Receive, sort, and accession specimens within the department.
• Prepare specimens for testing, including building worklists, aliquoting samples, and labeling.
• Perform centrifugation, slide preparation, inoculation, and specimen storage/retrieval.
• Inspect specimens for integrity (clots, fibrin, volume adequacy).
• Prepare reagents and/or media as required.
• Perform routine instrument maintenance on designated laboratory equipment.
• Record and maintain temperature logs and other departmental documentation.
• Conduct Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) activities as assigned.
• Resolve pending specimen lists and locate missing samples.
• Decontaminate work areas and dispose of biohazardous waste per regulations.
• Perform weekly radioactive wipe tests.
• Change gas cylinders as needed.
• Maintain departmental files and records.
• Adhere to all PPE requirements and laboratory safety policies.
• Utilize laboratory information systems and computer workstations effectively.
• Complete all required training and competency assessments.
• This role may include additional responsibilities as assigned to support laboratory operations.

 
Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Assistant training is a plus.
• Basic math and science coursework preferred.
