Description

Job Title: Lab Analyst
Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Type: 9 Month Contract
Pay: $28.00/hr-$30.00/hr
Schedule: 12-Hour Rotating Schedule (every other weekend off)
Clearance: TWIC required for this site


Overview

The Laboratory Technician in Baton Rouge, LA is responsible for using analytical methods to provide prompt and accurate testing of wastewater and hazardous waste samples per EPA and LA DEQ regulatory protocol.


Responsibilities

  • Perform duties associated with quality assurance, special projects, method development, and non-routine analytical and administrative assignments
  • Provide analytical support for plant personnel on a day-to-day basis
  • Conduct analysis, synthesis, and experimentation on substances for purposes such as product and process application, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and improvement of analytical methodologies
  • Perform analysis of finished products, in-process samples, raw materials, and wastewater in compliance with SOPs and HS&E policies and procedures
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment
  • Support process improvement initiatives and analytical projects
  • Complete safety and analytical equipment inspections daily
  • Manage laboratory waste and assist with hazardous waste disposal
  • Generate Certificates of Analysis and report results accordingly
  • Ship laboratory samples as needed
  • Write work orders and purchase laboratory supplies
  • Participate in safety meetings and report safety concerns
  • Follow all safety procedures including PPE, LOTO, and hazardous waste handling


Requirements

  • 1+ years in chemical process industry with a focus on laboratory environment and analytical procedures
  • New graduates encouraged to apply
  • Bachelor of Science in science or technical related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of ion chromatography, wet chemistry techniques, ICP, and wastewater analyses
  • Ability to lift and carry testing equipment within production areas
  • Strong communication skills with all levels of plant personnel
  • Ability to multi-task and manage assignments in a matrix environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for team collaboration
  • Follow safety protocols and report incidents
