    Job Summary

    A leading multidisciplinary engineering firm is seeking an experienced Practice Leader – Civil Engineering to join its growing team in Los Angeles, CA. This individual will play a key leadership role in supporting design, permitting, client management, and business development efforts for a variety of land development projects.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced civil engineering professional to help grow a local office, lead a Site/Civil practice, develop client relationships, and contribute directly to the continued growth of the discipline.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead the design and permitting of residential, institutional, commercial, warehouse/distribution, and mixed-use development projects for public and private clients.
    • Work closely with leadership to develop business and growth plans and ensure effective staff utilization.
    • Lead staffing, recruiting, and hiring initiatives for the local office.
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities and develop additional work with existing clients.
    • Participate in business development meetings and build strong relationships with new and existing clients.
    • Provide oversight and management of junior staff and project teams; coach, mentor, and develop Site/Civil professionals.
    • Lead Site/Civil efforts from concept through completion, including site layout, grading, drainage, infrastructure, erosion and sediment control, and related design elements.
    • Lead stormwater management design, hydrologic/hydraulic analyses, and SWPPP preparation.
    • Apply a strong understanding of land development engineering and coordinate with geotechnical, environmental, and other technical disciplines.
    • Contribute to proposals, technical presentations, and other business development initiatives.
    • Perform other duties as needed to support the continued growth and success of the practice.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
    • 15+ years of relevant site/civil engineering experience, with a strong concentration in land development and experience with both small and large-scale projects.
    • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
    • Strong technical experience in site layout, grading, drainage, infrastructure, erosion and sediment control, and related land development design.
    • Demonstrated success in client development, relationship management, and business development.
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D preferred.
    • Active involvement in professional organizations.
    • Experience with technical and proposal writing.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, multitasking, and decision-making abilities.
    • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
    • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for client meetings and project site visits.
