Client Overview:
A global technology organization is seeking an experienced L2 Data Center Technician to support a fast-paced data center environment. This is a hands-on infrastructure position requiring previous experience working directly with servers, racks, cabling, hardware deployments, and break/fix support.

Salary/Hourly Rate:
$30/hr - $34/hr

Position Overview:
The L2 Data Center Technician will provide hands-on technical support for critical data center infrastructure. Responsibilities will include rack-and-stack, server and network hardware installation, equipment deployment, break/fix troubleshooting, cabling, hardware replacement, inventory management, and ticket resolution.
This is an L2-level position, and candidates should already have direct data center or infrastructure support experience. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, troubleshooting physical hardware issues, following technical procedures, and supporting a high-volume environment.
Direct rack-and-stack experience is required.

Responsibilities of the L2 Data Center Technician:
  • Perform rack-and-stack activities for servers, switches, storage devices, and other data center equipment.
  • Install, remove, relocate, and decommission rack-mounted hardware.
  • Perform hands-on server and network equipment deployments.
  • Troubleshoot hardware failures and complete break/fix requests.
  • Diagnose and replace components including hard drives, memory, power supplies, network cards, and other server hardware.
  • Install, trace, label, organize, and troubleshoot fiber and copper cabling.
  • Verify physical connectivity between servers, switches, network equipment, and power infrastructure.
  • Perform Smart Hands / Remote Hands support for engineering and infrastructure teams.
  • Troubleshoot basic networking and connectivity issues.
  • Monitor and manage incidents and service requests through ITSM/ticketing platforms.
  • Maintain accurate equipment inventory, asset tracking, and deployment documentation.
  • Assist with data center moves, adds, and changes.
  • Follow established SOPs, runbooks, escalation procedures, and data center safety requirements.
  • Document technical work accurately and escalate higher-level issues when appropriate.
Required Experience/Skills for the L2 Data Center Technician:
  • Hands-on data center experience required.
  • Rack-and-stack experience required; candidates must be able to independently install and remove rack-mounted equipment.
  • Strong server hardware troubleshooting and break/fix experience.
  • Experience installing and deploying servers, switches, storage, and related infrastructure.
  • Experience with fiber and/or copper cabling.
  • Knowledge of physical network connections and basic network troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP, Ethernet, ports, and connectivity concepts.
  • Experience diagnosing and replacing failed hardware components.
  • Experience working from tickets and documenting completed technical work.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to follow detailed technical documentation and procedures.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating with engineering and infrastructure teams.
  • Must be able to work onsite.
  • Must be available for an ASAP start.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the L2 Data Center Technician:
  • Previous L2 Data Center Technician or Data Center Engineer experience.
  • Experience within an enterprise data center or colocation environment.
  • Smart Hands / Remote Hands experience.
  • Knowledge of rack layouts and structured cabling.
  • Familiarity with PDUs, A/B power, power connections, and data center infrastructure.
  • Experience with enterprise servers, storage systems, switches, and routers.
  • Hardware inventory and asset management experience.
  • Experience supporting large-scale hardware deployments or refresh projects.
Education Requirements:
  • Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent hands-on IT/data center experience preferred.
