Job SummaryThe Kitchen Utility Worker supports the daily operations of the hospital kitchen by maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of food service areas. This role plays a critical part in ensuring a safe, sanitary, and efficient environment that supports patient care, staff meals, and visitor dining services.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, trays, utensils, pots, and pans
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, workstations, floors, and storage areas
- Assist with food preparation tasks as assigned, including portioning and basic prep
- Transport food carts, supplies, and waste safely throughout the facility
- Dispose of trash and recycling according to hospital and safety guidelines
- Follow all infection control, food safety, and sanitation standards
- Adhere to hospital policies, OSHA regulations, and HACCP guidelines
- Report safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or sanitation concerns promptly
- Support kitchen staff during peak service times as needed
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior food service or utility experience preferred, but not required
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Knowledge of basic sanitation and food safety practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Physical Requirements- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Frequent bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling (up to 40 lbs)
- Ability to work in hot, wet, and noisy kitchen environments
