Midway Diner is looking for an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Kitchen Manager to lead our back-of-house team. If you're passionate about food quality, developing people, and creating efficient kitchen operations, we'd love to have you join our team.
As the Kitchen Manager, you'll oversee the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring every dish meets our standards for quality, consistency, and presentation. You'll lead and develop the kitchen team, manage inventory and labor, maintain food safety standards, and work closely with front-of-house leadership to deliver an exceptional dining experience for every guest.
What You'll Do
- Lead, coach, and support the kitchen team while fostering a positive and respectful work environment.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and hold team members accountable to Midway Diner's standards.
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, including scheduling, prep, production, and service.
- Ensure every plate meets quality, consistency, and presentation standards.
- Create prep plans and ensure the kitchen is fully prepared before each service.
- Monitor food costs, labor costs, and overall kitchen efficiency.
- Order, receive, and manage food, supplies, and inventory.
- Maintain compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
- Partner with front-of-house leadership to ensure seamless communication and exceptional guest experiences.
- Address equipment issues and coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
- Help build a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Who We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Kitchen Manager, Sous Chef, or other kitchen leadership role.
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
- Thorough knowledge of food safety, sanitation, inventory management, and labor controls.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to lead effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.
- Experience with scheduling, ordering, and inventory management.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality and consistency.
- Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and safely operate commercial kitchen equipment.
