Partners in Prime is seeking a dependable and team-oriented Kitchen Assistant to support the daily operations of our Meals on Wheels (MOW) program. The Kitchen Assistant works as part of a team to prepare, package, organize, and clean the kitchen and equipment necessary to provide safe, nutritious, and quality meals to program participants.
This position follows established policies, procedures, health and safety regulations, and program guidelines. The Kitchen Assistant is expected to exercise good judgment and refer questions or concerns to their supervisor when needed.
Comply with all Council on Aging (COA) and Partners in Prime policies, procedures, and service specifications related to the Meals on Wheels program.
Prepare and maintain the kitchen and work areas in compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations.
Assist with daily food preparation and use kitchen appliances and equipment safely and appropriately.
Package Meals on Wheels food items according to established serving portions and program specifications.
Prepare beverages as needed for daily meal service and special events.
Clean and sanitize kitchen appliances, dishwashers, trash receptacles, carts, trays, tables, counters, and other kitchen equipment and surfaces on a daily basis.
Wash, dry, sanitize, and properly store dishes, pots, pans, glasses, cups, utensils, and other kitchen items.
Monitor and restock kitchen supplies, including cups, plates, utensils, and other necessary items.
Receive, organize, and store food and kitchen supplies in the appropriate storage areas when items are delivered or purchased.
Properly document and maintain inventories of kitchen supplies as requested.
Break down boxes and dispose of cardboard, trash, and recyclable materials in the appropriate containers.
Maintain an organized, clean, and sanitary kitchen environment throughout the workday.
Attend required staff meetings, training sessions, and other meetings as directed by the supervisor.
Occasionally drive and deliver meals to clients during emergency situations or when regular personnel or volunteers are unavailable.
Promote and maintain a safe, respectful, and positive work environment.
Represent Partners in Prime in a professional and positive manner at all times, particularly when interacting with clients, volunteers, partners, and members of the community.
Successfully complete orientation and all required initial and ongoing training.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned and appropriate for the position.

Qualifications:Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Licenses or other required certifications: Must maintain a valid driver’s license, vehicle liability insurance and a good driving record that meets the standards of Partner’s In Prime’s vehicle insurance standards.
Experience: Entry level, no experience required.
Specialized knowledge, skills, or abilities: Time management and the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities is a must. Accurate typing and computer knowledge. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Good knowledge of various computer hardware and software programs including Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to pass basic math competency testing. Participate in promoting and maintaining a safe and positive work environment. Promote positive image of Partner’s In Prime within the community.
