Cashier/Kitchen Assistant
Effective immediately the Child Nutrition Office will accept applications for the Cashier/Kitchen Assistant position. This position is on duty all student contact days and school locations may vary frequently. The salary range for this position is $19.04 - $21.83/hr. when working at an elementary or parochial school and $19.24 - $22.03/hr. when working at a middle or high school, based on the 2026-2027 salary schedule between ISD #197 and SEIU Local #284. All schools providing meal service in District 197 Hours: Start Time Range: 7:00/7:45 AM; End Time Range: 1:30/2:15 PM (6 hours per day w/ 30 minute unpaid break)
Job Summary:
- Assist in forecasting daily meal needs and communicates accordingly with person in charge.
- Assist with preparing and serving meals for students, staff and special functions.
- Effectively operates the Point of Sale System, handles money, and prepares bank deposits.
- Ensures that each reimbursable meal sold meets USDA requirements.
- Performs a variety of kitchen cleaning duties.
- Assist with setting up serving lines and serves meals according to meal patterns.
- Projects a positive & professional image of themselves, their school and the Child Nutrition Dept. to all customers, staff and parents.
Qualifications:
- High School Degree or equivalent
- Ability to project a positive, professional image
- Ability to work as a team
- Willingness to perform duties as assigned
