November 7 through Thanksgiving:

Tuesday-Saturday, 9:30 AM-5:30 PM

November 27-December 23:

Tuesday-Saturday, 9:30 AM-7:30 PM

Christmas Eve:

Half-day schedule

This is a seasonal position. Schedule and hours may vary based on the needs of the Christmas Kettle Program.

About This Opportunity

The Christmas Kettle Coordinator recruits, trains, coordinates, schedules, and monitors employee bell ringers to ensure adequate staffing at assigned Red Kettle locations.

This position also prepares and maintains kettle program records and reports and drives a Salvation Army vehicle to transport kettle workers and/or pick up and deliver kettles.

Key Responsibilities

• Recruits, trains, schedules, and coordinates Red Kettle workers.
• Plans, schedules, and assigns work to staff.
• Instructs employees on proper work methods, procedures, and Salvation Army expectations.
• Monitors work to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Salvation Army policies and procedures.
• Develops daily driver routes for the pickup and delivery of kettles and transportation of kettle workers.
• Ensures kettle workers are dropped off and picked up at their assigned locations according to schedule.
• Drives a Salvation Army vehicle to transport kettle workers and/or kettles as needed.
• Maintains accurate and up-to-date records and databases for daily kettle income.
• Prepares reports regarding the status and operation of the Red Kettle Program.
• Maintains documentation of employee hours worked.
• Communicates with staff to address scheduling needs, absences, coverage, and other issues that may arise during the kettle season.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to follow instructions and work with limited supervision.
• Ability to prepare accurate and complete records and reports.
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with staff.
• Ability to lead, motivate, coordinate, and evaluate the work of staff.
• Ability to maintain Red Kettle worker and/or financial databases.
• Ability to organize schedules and make adjustments when staffing needs change.
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees and supervisors.

Mental and Physical Abilities

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Duties are frequently performed while seated, with occasional periods of standing and walking.
• Extensive driving to and from kettle locations is required and may account for approximately 50-75% of work time.
• Must be able to perform limited physical activities associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying equipment weighing less than 40 pounds, approximately 5-10% of work time.

Working Conditions

Work is performed both inside and outside of the office and may involve exposure to a variety of weather conditions while visiting Red Kettle locations. Employees should dress appropriately for weather conditions to remain safe and comfortable.

Because this position is responsible for coordinating the daily operation of the Red Kettle workforce, dependable attendance, organization, communication, and the ability to respond to changing staffing needs are essential.
