Position Summary

The Banquet Captain is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing banquet events and ensuring exceptional guest service from set-up through event completion. This position leads banquet staff during events, coordinates service execution, and ensures all details align with client expectations and resort standards.

This role requires strong leadership, organization, and a hands-on approach to delivering seamless, high-quality events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead banquet team during events, ensuring smooth execution of all food and beverage service
  • Promote and model the VIVAMEE Virtues in all interactions with guests and team members
  • Review banquet event orders (BEOs) and communicate expectations to staff
  • Oversee event setup, including linens, tables, décor, service stations, and equipment
  • Assign roles and responsibilities to banquet servers and support staff
  • Ensure proper timing of service (cocktail hour, courses, transitions, etc.)
  • Act as the primary point of contact during events for service-related needs
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and proactively resolve service issues
  • Coordinate with culinary, sales, and operations teams to ensure event success
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards throughout events
  • Oversee breakdown and ensure completion of all post-event side work
  • Ensure team adherence to uniform and presentation standards

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of banquet, restaurant, or hospitality service experience required
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced event environment
  • Professional appearance and guest-focused mindset
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 30 lbs, and work in a physically active environment
