Incumbents are responsible for the cleanliness and appearance of the Metro Animal Services facility.
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Receives direction from the Metro Animal Services Manager or higher-level management staff.
Typical Class Essential Duties
Performs a variety of custodial type duties involving the cleanliness and appearance of the facility including but not limited to cleaning and disinfecting animal holding areas.
Assists customers with stray animal intake; evaluates animals for adoption potential; collects adoption fees, and completes paperwork and data entry as necessary.
Counts money in cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and there is adequate change available.
Cares for animals which include: administering medications, microchips, vaccinations, monitoring wounds and injuries, and exercising dogs.
Monitors the health of animals and reports sick, injured or unhealthy animals to immediate supervisor.
Enters information into applicable databases and/or other computerized systems to collect and maintain records and information.
Monitors supply inventory levels and reports needed supplies to immediate supervisor.
Provides general customer service and communicates with the public regarding fees, policies, rules and general information about the facility, operations and/or event.
Runs business related errands to various locations, including taking animals to veterinary appointments.
Represents the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor.

Driving records are required for all new employees regardless of the positions driving requirements. Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up-to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up-to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects. Incumbents must have sufficient physical strength, mobility, and stamina to lift and/or move heavy animals and objects such as food bags, the dexterity and confidence to administer medications, being physical and mentally able to perform euthanasia of animals, the ability to monitor animals for signs of distress or disease, and is able to deal with animals even when they are stressed, ill or in pain. Incumbents will walk or stand for extended periods of time; frequently working in a bent position. May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises such as continuous dog barking and animal feces. May be exposed to bites, scratches, and contagious diseases.
