Physical Education (PE) Aide
Reports To: PE Teacher, Athletic Director, and/or Campus Principal
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred
- Ability to assist with physical activities and student supervision
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or ability to obtain
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Position Summary
The Physical Education (PE) Aide assists the PE Teacher and campus administration in supporting physical education classes, student supervision, equipment management, and daily operations of the PE program. The PE Aide helps promote a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment that encourages student participation, physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Student Support and Supervision
- Assist in supervising students during physical education classes, activities, recess, and athletic events as assigned.
- Help maintain a safe and orderly environment during indoor and outdoor activities.
- Assist students with participation in exercises, games, and physical activities as directed by the PE Teacher.
- Encourage positive behavior, teamwork, and sportsmanship among students.
- Monitor student safety and report injuries, concerns, or behavioral issues to the supervising teacher or administrator.
Classroom and Activity Support
- Assist the PE Teacher with preparation and setup of equipment and instructional materials.
- Help organize and clean equipment, storage areas, gymnasiums, and activity spaces.
- Assist with implementation of daily lesson activities and physical exercises.
- Support special events, field days, fitness activities, and campus athletic programs as assigned.
- Assist with attendance and activity documentation as requested.
Safety and Equipment Management
- Ensure equipment is properly stored, maintained, and used safely.
- Report damaged equipment or unsafe conditions promptly.
- Assist with maintaining cleanliness and organization of PE facilities and equipment areas.
- Support implementation of district safety procedures during physical activities.
Communication and Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Follow district policies, procedures, and campus expectations.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and records.
- Attend required trainings, meetings, and professional development sessions as assigned.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the PE Teacher, Athletic Director, or campus administration.

Physical Demands
Work involves prolonged standing, walking, running, bending, lifting, carrying sports equipment, and active participation in indoor and outdoor activities. Duties may require working in varying weather conditions and supervising physically active students.
Work Environment
Work is performed in gymnasiums, playgrounds, athletic fields, classrooms, and outdoor campus settings with varying noise levels and frequent student interaction.
