SALARY: Extra-Curricular Compensation Schedule (Category 6 - $3,100 - $4,100)

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Watertown Unified School District believes athletics are an important extension of the educational experience. We are seeking a positive, dependable, and student-centered individual to serve as our JV Girls Basketball Coach.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the varsity head coach and basketball staff to provide a positive experience for student-athletes while developing the skills, knowledge, teamwork, and character necessary for continued growth within the girls basketball program.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Plan and lead organized, developmentally appropriate practices that emphasize individual skill development and team concepts.
  • Coach and supervise student-athletes during practices, contests, tournaments, and team travel.
  • Prepare student-athletes for continued development and advancement within the girls basketball program.
  • Build positive relationships with student-athletes while promoting accountability, sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic success.
  • Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, coaching staff, and the Athletic Department.
  • Work collaboratively with the varsity head coach and coaching staff to promote consistency and continuity throughout the girls basketball program.
  • Follow all WUSD, Badger Conference, WIAA, and NFHS policies and expectations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A commitment to the academic, athletic, and personal development of student-athletes.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to create a positive, inclusive, and competitive team environment.
  • Knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategy, and age-appropriate player development.
  • A willingness to collaborate with the varsity head coach and other members of the girls basketball coaching staff.
  • Dependability, professionalism, and sound judgment when working with student-athletes.
  • Knowledge of WIAA and NFHS regulations; current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications are required prior to the start of the season.

Watertown High School serves approximately 950 students on a 150-acre campus that includes Endeavor Charter School and eCampus Charter School. WHS offers excellent athletic facilities, including a Fitness Center, and is a member of the Badger Conference.
