    POSITION: JV COMPETITIVE CHEER HEAD COACH JV COMPETITIVE CHEER ASSISTANT COACH

    JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for coaching and providing direction to the student athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill, as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork in Cheerleading. This position contributes to the educational program as a whole and the growth of the students. MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High School Diploma.
    • CPR/First Aid
    • Successful completion of all required online health/safety courses.
    • 3 years beyond high school graduation.
    • Previous Coaching experience preferred.
    • Experience working in a school setting and with others from diverse backgrounds.
    • Knowledge and understanding pertaining to sport, strategies, rules etc.
    • Understanding of Michigan High School Athletic Association rules and regulations.
    • Meet the guidelines set by the Woodhaven Brownstown School District. (Includes: drug screening/criminal background checks).

    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (May include but not be limited to):

    • Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
    • Instructs and teaches skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team achievement.
    • Plans and sets-up activities, practices and games.
    • Ensures a district approved coach is present at all practices and games.
    • Develops appropriate training programs and practice schedules.
    • Ensures proper cleaning, storage and maintenance of all athletic equipment, uniforms and updated inventories are prepared in collaboration with Head Coach.
    • Ensures appropriate behavior of student athletes including locker room, bus, practices, etc.
    • Follows school rules and Woodhaven Brownstown School District regulations regarding conduct and eligibility of athletic activities.
    • Maintains a safe environment and facilities for student athletes in accordance with Athletic Department Guidance.
    • Follow all MHSAA rules and Guidelines, including appropriate certification for coaches.
    • Reports rosters to the Athletic Director in a timely manner.
    • Provides a proper end of the year report including needed items as deemed by the Athletic Director.
    • Professionally represents the school and the district in interactions with students, parents, community, staff and the media.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: Mental and physical demands are part of the position. One must maintain control under stress, as well as prolonged and irregular hours. You may have late nights and working on weekends.

    WORK YEAR: 2026 - 2027 School Year

    COMPENSATION: Per WBEA contract - Schedule B
