    SUMMARY

    Grand Ledge High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Junior Varsity Competitive Cheer Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of cheerleading techniques, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for student-athletes. This seasonal position requires effective communication, organizational skills, and the ability to inspire and motivate young athletes to reach their full potential.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for the junior varsity cheerleading squad, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
    • Plan and conduct regular practices, ensuring a safe and positive environment for all participants.
    • Teach and refine cheerleading techniques, including stunts, jumps, tumbling, and choreography.
    • Prepare the team for competitions, including routine development, practice schedules, and competition logistics.
    • Collaborate with the varsity coach to align training goals and ensure continuity within the cheer program.
    • Monitor the academic performance and well-being of team members, promoting a balance between athletics and academics.
    • Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations, schedules, and events.
    • Attend all practices, competitions, and team meetings as required.
    • Foster a spirit of teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship among team members.
    • Uphold and enforce all school and district policies related to athletics and student conduct.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Previous experience in competitive cheerleading, coaching, or a related field is preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of cheerleading techniques, safety standards, and competition rules.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
    • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate practice and competition schedules.
    • Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the start of the season).
    • Must pass a background check in accordance with school district policies.
    • A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture that values diversity and encourages participation from all students.
    • High school diploma or equivalent; further education in sports management, physical education, or a related field is a plus.
