Jurisdiction & Classification Engineer (On-site)

Our client is seeking a Jurisdiction & Classification Engineer for a contract opportunity supporting its Global Trade organization. This role will evaluate hardware, software, technology, technical data, and related services to determine export control jurisdiction and classifications under the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

• Conduct detailed jurisdiction and classification reviews of hardware, software, technical data, and services against EAR and ITAR requirements.
• Complete Order of Review analyses and document classification determinations.
• Provide technical guidance to engineering, program, procurement, and contracts teams on jurisdiction and classification matters.
• Translate complex technical information into Global Trade analyses and regulatory determinations.
• Provide technical support for Commodity Jurisdiction requests and export classification requests, including CCATS.
• Train and mentor internal stakeholders on jurisdiction and classification methodologies to promote consistency across business units.
• Develop best practices, guidance documents, and improvements to classification tools and processes.
• Maintain accurate records of all jurisdiction and classification determinations.
• Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and configuration management teams to understand product roadmaps and technical changes.
• Partner with Global Trade and engineering teams to establish automated or manual controls that flag technical changes affecting export controls before release.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
• At least five years of experience in export control classification or jurisdiction determinations under EAR and ITAR.
• Strong knowledge of the U.S. Munitions List (USML) and Commerce Control List (CCL).
• Ability to interpret technical design documents, schematics, software code, and system architecture.
• Experience facilitating cross-functional discussions and supporting compliance in a matrixed technical environment.
• Current Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain one.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the aerospace or defense industry.
• Familiarity with enterprise Global Trade systems, such as OCR/EASE.
• Advanced degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
• Experience with Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and Schedule B classifications.

Pay Range: $82.00 - $87.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
