Description

In support of our client, a multidisciplinary engineering firm, ResourceTek has immediate openings for Junior Survey Field Technicians in Chattanooga, Tennessee. These entry-level positions support field and office surveying activities for engineering, transportation, environmental, and infrastructure projects.

Working alongside experienced surveyors and other technical professionals, you will gain hands-on experience with field measurements, data collection, project documentation, and surveying equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and is interested in building foundational skills for a career in surveying and geomatics.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the field supervisor with daily surveying activities and assignments
Set up tripods over designated survey points
Place survey stakes at designated locations as instructed
Clear brush, trees, and other obstructions from survey lines using appropriate tools
Copy, scan, and organize field notes and project documentation
Carry, clean, and properly maintain surveying instruments, equipment, and tools
Inspect survey vehicles daily to ensure they contain the equipment and materials needed for field operations
Keep survey vehicles, parking areas, and office storage areas clean and organized
Follow established safety procedures and instructions while working in the field
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform the physical tasks associated with field surveying
Previous experience in a role involving outdoor work is highly desirable
Ability to follow instructions, work effectively as part of a field crew, and properly care for assigned equipment
Previous experience as a rod person, instrument person, or survey field technician is preferred but not required
Interest in surveying, geomatics, engineering, or related technical work
Interest in pursuing additional education or training in geomatics is highly desirable
