Junior Project Manager, Utilities and Civil Construction

You've got some construction, civil, or utility experience, and you want to learn how utility and roadway projects are really run. As a Junior Project Manager, you'd work beside our Project Managers and Superintendents, get hands-on with real projects, and build the skills to run your own.
Blazey Construction Services is a Texas contractor doing utility construction (wet and dry utilities), civil construction, roadway construction and rehabilitation in asphalt and concrete, and pavement sub-grade work. Our customers include engineering firms, municipalities, and prime contractors. We're hiring a Junior Project Manager to support our PMs on active projects from award through closeout.
What you'll do
- Support Project Managers in running assigned projects from award through closeout.
- Help prepare project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
- Read plans, specs, and contract documents and learn how they drive the work.
- Help with subcontractor procurement, contracts, and day-to-day coordination.
- Track costs, prepare change order requests, and help with project financial reports.
- Handle RFIs, submittals, and change requests, and keep logs up to date.
- Coordinate materials and equipment with the field and the office.
- Work with Superintendents and Foremen on jobsite needs, safety, and quality.
- Help review billing, progress payments, and job cost reports.
- Take notes at project meetings and job walks, and follow up on action items.
- Keep project documentation accurate and organized, including as-builts, warranties, and turnover documents.
What you bring
- 1 to 3 years of experience in construction, utilities, civil, or project coordination. Internship or co-op experience counts.
- An interest in utility and civil work and a willingness to learn in the field.
- Comfort reading plans and specs, or a strong desire to learn.
- Strong written and verbal communication, and good organization and time management.
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office. Experience with project management software is a plus.
- A valid Texas driver's license. OSHA 10 or 30 is preferred.
- A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience counts.
The work environment
This is mainly an office role in Houston, with regular visits to job sites. In the field, you'll follow OSHA safety standards and wear the right PPE.
