Process Engineer Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Process Engineer to support and improve manufacturing operations within a chemical production environment. The Process Engineer will be responsible for optimizing process performance, troubleshooting operational issues, improving product quality and yield, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will work closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, R&D, and EHS teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations while supporting process improvements, new product introductions, and technology upgrades.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support process improvement initiatives focused on increasing production throughput, improving yield, reducing waste, and enhancing overall operational efficiency.
  • Analyze chemical manufacturing processes and operating data to identify bottlenecks, process variability, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop, update, and maintain process documentation, including P&IDs, SOPs, process flow diagrams, operating procedures, and process parameters.
  • Provide day-to-day technical support to plant operations and production teams, including real-time troubleshooting of process and operational issues.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for process deviations, equipment-related issues, quality problems, and operational failures, and implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, and other process optimization methodologies.
  • Support compliance with applicable process safety, environmental, regulatory, and company standards, including OSHA, EPA, and internal EHS requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Production, Maintenance, Quality, R&D, and EHS, to support process changes, new product introductions, equipment modifications, and plant improvements.
  • Monitor key process performance indicators and operating metrics; develop reports or dashboards and recommend adjustments to maintain stable, efficient, and consistent operations.
  • Evaluate and support the implementation of new process technologies, equipment upgrades, instrumentation, and automation solutions to improve plant performance and reliability.
  • Participate in process safety activities, risk assessments, and engineering reviews related to process modifications and plant improvements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience in the chemical manufacturing industry.
  • 1 4 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably within a chemical manufacturing or industrial production environment.
  • Hands-on experience or exposure to chemical manufacturing, batch processing, continuous processing, or similar industrial operations.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with process modeling, statistical analysis, data analysis, or data visualization tools is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM), HAZOP, Management of Change (MOC), Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR), and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret and work with P&IDs, process flow diagrams, SOPs, and process operating parameters.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage multiple priorities.
